My Lifeline

There are days in our life that we can never forget. For some people this is their birthday or an important event. For my parents the most memorable day is my birthday. They say that it was the happiest day in their life. As for me, I have many days to remember. They are the days spent with my family or friends. Now I want to tell you about the most important events in my life...
I was born in Dzhankoy in 1995. About a year later, my family moved to Yevpatoria and I spent my childhood there. I went to school in Yevpatoria in 2001. There I met my best friend, Dasha. I have shared much good time with Dasha and I feel fortunate to have met her. While I was at school I started dancing and I attended dancing lessons for 5 years. In 2012 I left school and went to university. I met many new friends there!

The place I've always wanted to visit!

I have always dreamed about an opportunity to travel around the world. It is so wonderful to visit the world’s most famous landmarks, to meet new people, to know more about other cultures, to try dishes of different cuisines and so on.
Most of all I would like to go to Dubai. I have learned so much about this splendid city from my cousin, who was there 3 years ago, and my dearest dream is to see this city with my own eyes!
Dubai is one of the most exciting and popular tourist destinations in the world, famous for its magnificent landscapes, sandy beaches and turquoise seas, deserts, exotic animals, skyscrapers, first-class restaurants and hotels. It is not a very big city, but there is much to see and to do. I would spend there at least a week to have an opportunity to visit all the most famous places.
I’d like to see the Burj Dubai Tower – one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world which stands more than 800 metres tall and can be seem from 95 kilometres away.
I’d like to see Dubai Aquarium – one of the largest indoor aquariums in the world. It showcases 33,000 aquatic animals, representing more than 200 species. It’s just amazing! Visitors have the opportunity to go on Glass Bottom Boat Rides over the surface of the aquarium or swim among the sharks! It’s really worth going.
I would be happy to see the Dubai Fountain. Everyone will be impressed by this the world’s largest fountain system, famous for its beauty!
My dream holiday wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Palm Islands. This place attracts me with its splendor. It is really worth seeing, too!
I hope to visit this magnificent city and I’m sure that soon my dream will come true!

The Case for the Defence

… The next day the police arrested both brothers and charged both with the murder.

The twins were interrogated separately. The police tried to get at the heart of the matter and told one of them that they had the goods on another brother, and vice versa. Predictably, one of them took the spear in his chest to defend his brother.

To the chagrin of the defendants, at the same time their wives were interrogated too. Under penalty, one of the wives confessed that on that day her husband had come home at daybreak with a mixture of fear and malice in his eyes.

All these facts gave rise to doubt, and the police tried to find new evidence. They examined the scene of the crime again and found a handkerchief with the fingerprints on it. The prints were identical with those of the convicted person, of one of the brothers.

So the crime was solved by the police and the murderer endured the punishment at the hands of the law.

One of the oldest and most mysterious archaeological sites in the world

Everybody agrees that travelling has become one of the most popular ways of spending free time. Millions of people leave their homes and go to the seaside, to the mountains or make tours round other countries to get bright and unforgettable impressions and have a good time. They travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities and ruins of ancient towns. They travel to enjoy picturesque places or just for a change of scene.
The choice of the destination of your travel depends on your tastes and your wishes. As for me, I would like to visit one of the oldest and most mysterious archaeological sites in the world…
Eight miles north of Salisbury is a large circle of stones, which is called Stonehenge. It measures 80 metres across and made with massive blocks of stone up to four metres high. The largest stones weigh over 40 tons, and visitors since Roman times have been baffled by their purpose and the secrets of their construction. Some people believe that Stonehenge was built for religious purposes, others believe that it was a temple for the dead. Maybe it was a kind of observatory, where astronomers studied the stars and the planets. Anyway, we shall never know the real answer.
Stonehenge, which was built thousands of years ago, is still a special place for some people today. Every year, on June 21st, lots of people go to Stonehenge to celebrate the longest day of the year. It is surely Britain's greatest national icon, symbolizing mystery, power and endurance.
I hope to visit this enigmatic place and I’m sure that soon my dream will come true!

How I Spend My Time

  How I Spend My Time

People spend their time in different ways. Some people enjoy going in for sports, others prefer watching TV or playing computer games.
As for me, I spend most of my time studying and doing my homework. Sometimes I feel very exhausted after a hard day at the University, so I need a couple of hours to relax. In this case I prefer to stay alone lying on the sofa and listening to music in my room. Music helps me to relax and feel refreshed.
At the weekend I usually help my parents with the housework. My household duties are to clean the second floor of the house and to water the flowers.
No wonder that the vast majority of young people have some duties at home although many of them aren’t happy about it. Of course, watching TV or playing computer games is much more interesting than tidying the house or doing the washing up, but I think that our parents need our help and we have to remember about it. It is necessary to share duties at home so that our parents could have a rest.
Frankly speaking, I’d like to spend more time walking and hanging out with my friends, because it is necessary for me to have a day for a rest so that I will be able to continue my study successfully, but in general I’m happy with the way I use my time!
All in all there are a lot of ways to spend our time. And we choose the way  which suits our preferences.

My Best Friend

My best friend's name is Daria and she is 17.
I’ve known Dasha since my first day at school, when we were only six. I can remember her smiling face as the teacher, Elena Anatolievna, asked me to share the same desk with her.
Dasha is a very pretty girl. She is tall and slim. She often wears her long dark hair in a pony-tail. She has got a round face with beautiful light-blue eyes and a straight nose.
Dasha prefers comfortable clothes and can often be seen wearing a jumper, a pair of jeans and trainers.
Dasha is a kind person who will listen to your problems and try to help you. She always tries to understand me and my feelings. Dasha knows that she can rely on me too. Also, I respect my friend for her modesty and strong will.
What I don’t like about Dasha is her obstinacy.
Dasha is a student of Crimean University for Humanities. Like me, she wants to be a teacher in the future.
Daria is quite active and enjoys outdoor activities. One of her favourite hobbies is playing tennis. Also, she likes going to the cinema and is especially fond of adventure films.
I have shared much good time with Dasha. She is one of my best and most trusted friends.
I feel fortunate to have met her!

My Sign Of Zodiac

Leo

My sign of zodiac is Leo.
People born under this sign are determined. If Leos want anything done, nothing shall prevent them from reaching their aim.
Another characteristic of Leos is their sensitivity. They are vulnerable and get hurt very easily. Sometimes they tend to behave like children.
Leos are reliable people and you can always depend on them. So, they are loyal friends.
Also, people born under this sign of zodiac are generous and kind-hearted. Honesty and sincerity are no less important words to describe Leos.
Moreover, these people are unpredictable. You never know what they are going to do.
As for the negative traits of Leos’ character, these people can’t stand criticism. And sometimes they can be a bit irritable.

"Character Word Cloud"

Here is my "character word cloud".

In general, I agree with all these adjectives, that describe my character, in my group mates' opinion.
I'm pleased to hear that my group mates think so!
Thank you!
With love, Lera.
